LONDON, Ont. — The Ontario Truck Driving Championships will take place at the Flying J Travel Plaza, in London on July 20.

With the competition running from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event is intended to create greater public awareness on the importance of trucking.

For more than 50 years, the championships have provided a forum for professional truck drivers to display their skills and encourage an active interest in safety.

Challenging tests are used to measure the level of driver expertise, knowledge of the rules of the road, safety, courtesy and efficiency in the annual competition. With truckers vying for supremacy across six classes: Step Van (new Class for 2002), Straight Truck, Single-Single, Single-Tandem, Tandem-Tandem, and Train.

Regional, private and company championships are held annually throughout Ontario. These Championships are held among drivers working in the private and for hire trucking sector.

If you require any further information regarding this event, feel free call 888-812-0099 to speak with Penny Costanzo, one of the key organizers.
