TORONTO, Ont. – The OTA Road Knights Team has officially kicked off its 2003-04 season.

The twelve professional drivers named to the team are already busy delivering road-sharing presentations, representing the industry at road safety events and talking to youth about industry careers throughout Ontario.

The group has already been booked to attend functions every month throughout the calendar year.

“We are encouraged by the community’s interest in hearing the team’s message of how to be partners in safety,” says OTA communications manager Rebecka Torn.
Torn points to a recent study by the American Automobile Association which concludes 54 per cent of fatal collisions involving a tractor-trailer are caused by car drivers.

These findings echo Canadian research, which for may years has consistently shown car drivers to be at fault in 70- 80 per cent of fatal car-truck collisions, according to the OTA.

The OTA Road Knights are a group of professional transport drivers with first-class driving records. This year’s team is the fifth group of industry ambassadors the OTA has assembled.
Collectively, the teams have appeared on hundreds of local, national and international news programs, and met with thousands of community residents.

To meet the new team, visit the OTA Web site link on this site. To arrange for a Road Knight to meet with your group or attend your event, contact the OTA’s communications department at 416-249-7401 (ext. 224 or 245).

Presentations are free.
