OTA Welcomes Veteran Members to Pioneer, Half-Century Clubs

Toronto, ON– The Ontario Trucking Association’s (OTA) Pioneer and Half-Century clubs gained eight new members on Thursday.

“The trucking industry is driven by its people,” says OTA president David Bradley.

The Pioneer Club’s members are individuals with at least 25 years in the industry and the Half-Century Club’s members have at least 50 years’ experience in transportation.

“Many of these inductees started at the bottom of the industry in various capacities, but all of them moved up and became leaders and innovators with a lot of hard work and passion for the job,” Bradley says.

The inductees are:

Half Century Members

· Ross Mackie, owner-board member of Mackie Moving Systems, who started in in 1952 as a driver.
· Don Anderson, president of Don Anderson Haulage, who started in 1956 as a driver.

Pioneer Members

· Robert Halfyard, VP of operations with Fleetway Transport Inc., who started in 1977 as a mechanic.
· Brad Bowering, senior district manager with Peterbilt Canada, who got his start selling trucks in 1984.
· George Warn, director of risk management with Polaris Transport Carriers, who got his start in 1973 as a driver for Canada Dry.
· Mike McCarron, who works in mergers and acquisitions for Wheels MSM and broke into the industry in 1984 as a sales representative with Ryder. 
· Peter Currie, Ontario District sales manager with Volvo Trucks Canada, the company he started with in 1988.
· Kathleen Moore, compliance administrator with Windchaser Carrier Logistics, who began her career in 1981 as a dispatcher for a towing service.

The OTA welcomed the new Pioneer and Half-Century members at the 87th annual convention held in Toronto.
