WINNIPEG, Man. — Darcol International, a 35-truck fleet out of Winnipeg, says it saved $55,000 in maintenance costs by outsourcing its preventive maintenance to Kenworth PremierCare.

The fleet, which hauls furniture and other just-in-time freight between Canada and the US, developed a customized PM solution with Kenworth PremierCare so it could have its trucks serviced at any participating dealer rather than having to run empty miles to get the trucks back to its own shop.

Custom Truck Sales in Winnipeg is the local dealer that initiated the program with Darcol. Geiger said the $55,000 savings achieved in the first year came as a surprise. The fleet uses Kenworth PremierCare’s online maintenance manager which allows dispatchers to schedule regular maintenance and repairs. Custom Truck Sales picks the truck up at Darcol’s facility and returns it when the work is complete.
