PACCAR links fleets with hi-tech system

BELLEVUE, Wash. — PACCAR Leasing Company has made available a telematics system with goals to reduce customer operating costs, improves productivity and enhances service in private fleet logistics.

The PacTrac telematics solution utilizes GPS technology, a reliable network of over 100 wireless carriers and an Internet connection to deliver real-time data from customers’ vehicles.

Modular hardware includes the PacTrac onboard computer, keyboard and handset to deliver several benefits, including real-time GPS vehicle position reports to help maximize supply chain efficiency to meet changing customer demands.

The paperless data collection cuts administrative time by automating driver hours of service logs and automatically populating tax, payroll and compliance reports. As well the telematics system attempts to tighten security and provides automated notification when trucks move within allowable geographic boundaries.

PacTrac was developed for PACCAR Leasing by PeopleNet of Chaska, Minn.
