VANCOUVER, B.C. — TransLink has permanently closed the Pattullo weigh scale to heavy-duty trucks.

The permanent closure took effect July 1, with enforcement to be continued through the deployment of a mobile unit operated by the provincial government. It will operate on the major road network of the Greater Vancouver Regional District.

Permits will continue to be issued through provincially operated weigh scales in B.C.

The Pattullo scale has been closed on a temporary basis since February due to damage to building services caused by poor soil conditions on the site. The cost of repairs to the building was estimated at more than $1 million.
