Pennzoil long-life lube gets ArvinMeritor approval
Pennzoil
Pennzoil Long-Life Extended Warranty SAE 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Oils have received approval for 500,000-mile extended drain intervals for ArvinMeritor (formerly Rockwell) heavy-duty, over-the-road truck axles equipped with pump and filter systems.
With the approval, fleets and independent truck operators may now use the Pennzoil lubricants for both service-fill and factory-fill at the same change interval specified for approved synthetic fluids, and still qualify for the ArvinMeritor 750,000-mile extended warranty coverage.
The approval also brings with it a new ArvinMeritor specification — O76-Q “Extended Drain Hypoid Lubricants” — that outlines the features and performance requirements of field-tested, extended-drain axle fluids made from Group II base oils.
Pennzoil is the first and only gear lubricant supplier to be approved under this new specification.
“Introduced in May of this year, our Pennzoil® Long-LifeÔ Extended Warranty gear lubricants have already received SHAES-234 extended drain approval from Dana Corporation for use in Dana heavy duty drive axles, as well as Mack GO-J approval for use in Mack truck axles and manual transmissions,” said Lisa Silva, product manager for lubricant technology for Pennzoil-Quaker State Co. “This latest sanction from ArvinMeritor further verifies the product’s high quality and exceptional axle protection under a variety of conditions.”
Silva said that the mineral-based Pennzoil lubricants offer protection equivalent to that provided by extended-drain synthetic-based gear lubricants. The products also are compatible with synthetic lubricants, thereby allowing for convenient top-offs and refills without flushing.
