TORONTO, Ont. — PeopleNet is helping get Ontario enforcement officers up to speed on electronic logs, by providing the Ministry of Transportation with eDriver Logs and a BLU In-Cab PC for training purposes.

This will allow MTO’s Carrier Enforcement Program Office to familizarize front-line enforcement officers on how to read and interpret electronic logs.

“To make sure that our customers are getting the most out of our industry-leading electronic-log application, we want to familiarize the organization’s enforcement officers with the technology to facilitate inspections,” said PeopleNet Canada president, Jamie Williams. “Since eDriver Logs is a highly popular tool used by carriers to assure HOS compliance, it’s important to us that all transportation law enforcement agencies understand how it works.”

Alf Brown, head carrier enforcement liaison with the MTO’s Carrier Enforcement Program Office, said the ministry is grateful.

“As more drivers use electronic logs, our enforcement officers are encountering this technology more frequently in their vehicle inspections,” Brown said. “PeopleNet’s contribution has been a significant part of our training program in demonstrating eDriver Logs’ capabilities to the senior management of the Carrier Safety and Enforcement Branch. The BLU in-cab device and eDriver Logs software have been a huge help in educating our officers and making them more comfortable with the technology, so they can conduct inspections more efficiently.”
