CALGARY, Alta. — The Canadian Petroleum Products Institute (CPPI) honoured four carriers who completed the delivery of petroleum products in a safe manner during 2006 in Western Canada.

The Common Carrier Safety Awards were established in 2004 and on April 19, CPPI hosted a luncheon in Calgary to honour the 2006 winners.

Its a good recognition for the folks who haul products for CPPI members, Ted Stoner, vice-president of CPPI, told the luncheon crowd. We look over incident reports, and trends and tracking; and were looking for reductions over previous years, overall safety performance, and safety promotion among drivers and fleets.

Collectively, the four carriers made more than 217,492 deliveries in 2006 on behalf of CPPI member companies in Western Canada.

The recipients of this years awards were:
Scamp Industries, Best Overall Carrier
Westcan Bulk Transport, Improvement Award for Reduced Product Mixes
Pauls Hauling, Improvement Award for Reduced Product Spills
Trimac Transportation, Improvement Award for Reduced Vehicle Accidents
Trimac Transportation, Improvement Award for Reduced Personal Injuries
