Photos! Trucker Lucky to be Unhurt After Mattress Flies Into Rig

ST. JOHNS, NL — Any good trucker knows that hauling an improperly secured load is dangerous and a lawsuit just waiting to happen.

However, one likely knows this just a little better anyone else after he was on the receiving end when an unsecured bed came flying from a pickup truck earlier this week smashing into his windshield while traveling along the Trans-Canada Highway in St. Johns, NL

Photos posted to Facebook by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary show the damage and just how fortunate this unidentified trucker was not to have been hurt. Authorities also urged motorists to make sure they tie down their loads.

According to one published report, the pickup was carrying two mattresses when one came loose. The driver was ticketed for having an unsecured load.
