Polaris Transportation names new VP of finance

Polaris new VP finance, Jon SaundersMISSISSAUGA, ON – The new vice president of finance for the Canadian and U.S. operations of Polaris Transportation Group says transportation and logistics is in his DNA.

Jon Saunders has been named to the position, starting Jan. 26, 2015.

In the role, Saunders will lead the firm’s acquisition and strategic initiatives, while providing oversight to the finance division. He will work out of the head office in Mississauga, Ont.

“Transportation and logistics has always been a part of my DNA,” Saunders said. “My first job after university was as a Supply Chain Analyst at Canadian Tire, which is where I met my wife.”

He also worked at HSBC Bank to help businesses grow globally.

Saunders holds an MBA with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Founded in 1994, Polaris is best known for its scheduled LTL service between Canada and the USA, specializing in the shipment of dry goods.
