Police go undercover to issue traffic tickets

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Vancouver police are finding creative new ways to nab traffic violators, such as speeders and aggressive drivers.

Police are getting behind the wheels of Insurance Corp. of B.C.-recovered vehicles of all makes and models to go undercover in an attempt to nail speeding drivers. It’s estimated by using every-day vehicles, police will likely catch about 20 more violators per shift.

In another original idea, police in Burnaby are going undercover as squeegee kids to see if drivers have their seatbelts on. If not, an unbuckled driver will be directed around a corner where a ticket will be issued.
