MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada and the CITT have announced a new award honoring academic achievement within the CITT Program of Study.

This annual award, sponsored by the PMTC and Unique Personnel Inc., will be presented to an undergraduate with the highest academic standing in the human resources related course currently called “Managing People Effectively.”

Complementing the specialized logistics curricula, the course is part of CITT’s “Business Knowledge Courses” which strive to develop well-rounded management professionals for the logistics sector. Completion of the program leads to the CITT Designation.

“Through our work within the trucking community, and communication with our membership, we recognize that human resource management in trucking is an area that deserves attention,” said PMTC president Bruce Richards. “We believe that this award will encourage people who are interested in working in the trucking community to gain some valuable background in human resource management. That will benefit them in their individual careers and the broader trucking community as a whole.”

Catherine Viglas, President of CITT echoed the comments of Richards and Christie saying CITT is proud to partner with organizations that recognize the need for well-rounded professionals in the supply chain and transportation logistics sector. “These organizations demonstrate their willingness to think holistically by moving past the norms of their own activities and thinking ahead to the future of the supply chain and logistics sector.”

The award winner will receive their award at the CITT Annual Conference during the awards ceremony alongside other distinguished award winners, and receive an invitation to the PMTC’s annual awards luncheon.
