Purolator and Teamsters reach pact

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Purolator Courier Ltd. and its Teamster employees have ratified the collective agreement that the two sides reached  at the end of April.

According to a statement from the courier company, the four-year agreement covers the company’s couriers, package handlers, truck drivers and owner/operators and it is effective until Dec. 31,2011.

“We are very pleased our employees have voted to accept the contract offer presented,” said Robert C. Johnson, Purolator’s President and CEO.

“I personally, along with the Canada Council of Teamsters, am happy that Purolator’s employees have spoken and chosen to ratify a new collective agreement,” said Robert Bouvier, President of Teamsters Canada.

“The negotiating teams worked hard to reach an agreement that addresses the needs of our employees while providing the basis for continued innovation and growth for Purolator,” said Stephen Gould, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Purolator. “We are focused on helping our customers succeed and this new collective agreement is one of the ways we can make that happen.”
