Purolator names new president

TORONTO — Today is the first official day of Tom Schmitt’s new job as president and CEO of Purolator.

The former FedEx executive takes over from acting president Bill Henderson at the top of the express delivery company with 11,300 employees, an air network of 12 aircraft, and more than 4,000 ground vehicles.

Schmitt had held several executive roles at FedEx over the last 12 years, including senior vice president of FedEx Solutions, as well as president and CEO of FedEx’s Global Supply Chain Services.

As president and CEO of Purolator, he’ll be responsible for the development and implementation of Purolator’s long-term strategy as well as running the day-to-day business of the company. He will also serve as a member of the Board.

"I have the utmost respect for Purolator as a Canadian industry leader and am excited about the opportunity to lead this great company," said Schmitt.
