Purolator unveils plans for new eastern facility
ST. LAURENT, Que. — Purolator Courier plans to build a state-of-the-art facility in St. Laurent, Que., with operations at the new facility expected to be in full-swing by July of next year.
The new hub will be the most efficient and technologically advanced Purolator facility in Canada. Equipped with the latest package sortation and scanning technologies, the 160,000 sq.-ft. facility will service the Qubec market.
“As the leading provider of integrated distributions solutions to, from and within Canada, we are reinforcing our commitment to customers by introducing a facility that is on the cutting-edge of technology and equipped to meet the needs of our growing customer base,” said Robert Johnson, president and CEO of Purolator.
The new hub will be located on a 37.5-acre site located adjacent to Aroport International de Montral Pierre-Elliot-Trudeau. The new facility will consolidate the operations of two facilities – one located in Dorval and the other in St. Laurent.
The facility aims to provide Purolator’s Qubec division with increased shipment capacity by utilizing automated conveyable sorting and scanning technology and present customized solutions and enhanced service to customers.
The new hub will process 24,000 pieces of conveyable freight per hour and employ approximately 350 personnel.
