Putting trailer air to work

CANTON, Ohio — Fleets and owner/operators will be relieved to know there is now a way to save time and money automatically.

Hendrickson recently introduced the Hendrickson Tire Inflation System (HTIS) option for the INTRAAX and VANTRAAX trailer suspension systems.

The system maintains inflation to a specified level automatically. The results are less excessive tire wear and improvements to productivity and fuel mileage.

It detects low tire pressure and alerts the operator. It then responds by directing air when a tire’s pressure dips below a predetermined level.

The air travels from the supply tank through air lines inside the axle to the wheelends. A rotary union allows air to flow from a non-rotating axle spindle to the rotating hubcap fitting. Hoses connect from a hubcap tee to the tires.

Manual fill and pressure checks can still be performed at the hose end.

For more information call 866-RIDEAIR or visit the Hendrickson Web site at www.hendrickson-intl.com.
