Qualcomm issues software/hardware upgrades

SAN DIEGO, Cal. — Qualcomm Inc. today released upgrades of its fleet management tools, including new versions of its FleetAdvisor and TrackingAdvisor software.

The company also released an upgrade of its MPVc in-vehicle computer hardware.

FleetAdvisor is a transportation logistics management system that supports on-board computing, vehicle tracking, integrated back-office software and real-time wireless communications, The new version includes automatic exception monitoring for dispatchers to determine if trucks have stopped, are off-schedule or are operating outside normal performance criteria. It also allows dispatchers to provide re-routing, route editing, dispatch messaging and order entry charges via a web browser.

And the upgrade includes support for SQL 2000, Microsoft’s latest database, which facilitates monitoring for large fleets.

Private fleet drivers can access the FleetAdvisor application on the MVPc in-vehicle computer , which has been upgraded to improve LCD screen readability in the cab.

The latest version of TrackingAdvisor mapping software includes an improved mapping engine for better reliability, support for split server configurations, and maps for Canada.
