QUEBEC CITY, Que. — The Quebec ministry of Transport wishes to notify heavy vehicle users that the period during which the authorized load limits are reduced due to the spring thaw has been postponed

With the exceptionally cold weather we have been experiencing, the start of the thaw period will therefore be put off one week in each zone from the date initially scheduled. The end date will remain unchanged.

For zone one, the thaw period will run Mar. 17 to May 10, for zone two, Mar. 24 to May 17 and for zone three, Mar. 31 to May 24.

Zone one covers southern Quebec including Gatineau, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivieres and Quebec City. Zone two is located north of zone one, including Gaspe, La Verendrye, Lac-Saint-Jean, the North Shore and Rimouski. Zone three lies north of zone two and includes Abitibi, the Chibougamau-Chapais region and the Ashuapmushuan wildlife reserve.

During the thaw period, truck weighing activities will intensify. For more information call 514-873-2605.
