Seattle-based Red Dot Corp. has announced its new ProTecht system, which the company says gives technicians the ability to diagnose, trouble shoot, and repair HVAC problems quickly and easily.

The ProTecht system is an integrated A/C system protection, and diagnostic tool using advanced patented, microprocessor and sensor technology.
Comprised of a unique refrigerant charge sensor, a high side pressure transducer and a compact electronic control unit (ECU) module the system warns of low charge system shut down and protects A/C components from premature failures. These sensors, through the ECU, will make adjustments for excessive system pressures, excessive clutch cycling and if required engage the condenser fan, the company says.

The ECU gathers real time data from the system protection components and logs faults that occur. Retrieval of logged faults is accomplished by using the optional A/C Technician Software, which monitors and displays information in a very easy to read and understand format. The user can also download logged fault codes for historical analysis by using the SAE J1708 data bus link and a computer running a Windows-based operating system.
