WINNIPEG, Man. — Reimer Express is proud to announce that three of its drivers received the highest honours at the 2003 Canadian Truck Driving Championships.
The event was held Sept. 6 at the Red River Exhibition Grounds in Winnipeg.

Gary Good placed first in the three-axle competition and John Klassen placed first in the step van competition. Both gentlemen are from the Winnipeg facility. Harvey Gording, from Regina, also took top honours in the 4-axle competition.

Reimer Express drivers also succeeded in other events. John Nowak, from the Winnipeg facility, placed 2nd and Ralph Schierling, from the Saskatoon facility, placed third in the straight truck class.

In order to qualify for the national event, each entrant had to place 1st in their respective classes at the provincial competitions. According to Clayton Gording, Vice President of Operations for Reimer Express Lines Ltd., “It is extremely difficult to even qualify for participation in the championships at the provincial level, let alone make it into the Canadian Truck Driving Championships. One of the many requirements is a 12-month, accident-free driving record. We are very proud of our drivers for their outstanding accomplishments and their dedication to improving highway safety.”

Seven drivers from Reimer Express qualified to represent their respective provinces at the Canadian Nationals, where they competed against 31 other top-rated drivers from across the country. The Canadian Truck Driving Championship is an annual event for professional truck drivers and tests their skills through an intense driving competition, written examination, personal interview, and pre-trip inspection.

Allan N. Robison, President and C.E.O. of Reimer Express Lines Ltd. stated, “Throughout the competition, our drivers exhibited remarkable driving skills. They provided an incredible display of sportsmanship, competitive spirit and pride in their chosen profession. They have truly distinguished themselves as some of the best professional truck drivers.”
