WINNIPEG, Man. — A 100-km detour due to a road closure between Winnipeg and the US border will cost the province’s truckers $1.5 million a week, according to a report in the Winnipeg Free Press.

Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) spokesman Bob Dolyniuk told the newspaper the closure of part of Hwy. 75 due to flooding will cause trucks to re-route down Hwy. 3 to Winkler and then east on Hwy. 14 before rejoining Hwy. 75 south of Morris.

The detour will cost about $400 per trip, he estimated. The road closure could last nearly three weeks, according to the Free Press.
