Road Hammers to appear at Alta. driving championships

RED DEER, Alta. — Trucker music band The Road Hammers will be on-hand at the Alberta Provincial Truck Driving Championships June 18 to sign autographs and greet the drivers.

The band is headed by 2004 Canadian Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year, Jason McCoy. The formation of the band, which focuses strictly on trucker music, has been featured in a reality TV show on Country Music Television.

Its hit single “I’m a Road Hammer” has received plenty of air play on CMT and country music radio stations. The band refers to itself as a “five piece no-nonsense mix of Country, Southern Rock and Blues.”

The Alberta Provincial Truck Driving Championships are being held June 18 at the Westerner Centre in Red Deer, Alta. An awards banquet will follow at the Black Knight Inn at 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.amta.ca.The Road Hammers will be on hand from 12 until 1:30 p.m.
