Saskatchewan group wants government to ‘Fix my Roads’
REGINA, (June 16, 2005) — The Saskatchewan Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association’s (RBHCA) Board of Directors wants roads and highway issues elevated on the governments’ list of priorities.
The RBHCA has launched a public awareness campaign called “Fix my Roads!” The first two phases of the campaign will focus on the gap between the amount of fuel tax collected by the provincial and federal governments and the amount of money spent on crumbling roadways. The group will launch province-wide advertisements to get their message across.
The RBHCA will also distribute 100,000 postcards to Saskatchewan taxpayers throughout the summer. The postcard, addressed to the Premier, asking clear answers regarding Saskatchewan’s road system problems.
The Association has also contracted for the development of a Policy Paper that will expand on the importance of investing in Saskatchewan’s road network as a direct link to economic prosperity. This Policy Paper will also be presented to the Premier in the fall of 2005
Interested parties can get more information on how to support the campaign at a new website set up for the cause: www.fixmyroads.com.
