Saskatchewan SLH driver named province’s truck driving champ
SASKATOON, (June 20, 2005) — All the talk at the 2005 Saskatchewan Professional Truck Driving Championships centered around Brian Weslowski of SLH Transport — who named Grand Champion and racked up the highest point total.
The truck rodeo, hosted by the Saskatchewan Trucking Association at the Husky Travel Centre in Saskatoon, pits the province’s best truck drivers in a diving skills competition. Weslowski gets to go up against the best of the best at the National Professional Truck Driving Championships in Moncton N.B. on September 24.
Winners, listed from first to third place in each category, include:
STEP VAN: Thomas Jacobs, Purolator Courier; Keith Parker, Purolator Courier; and Sam Abbott, Northern Lites Courier/Ridsdale Transport.
STRAIGHT TRUCK: Larry Radons, Reimer Express Lines Ltd.; Ralph Schierling, Reimer Express Lines Ltd.; and Greg Schreiner, Canadian Freightways.
SINGLE SINGLE: Brian Weslowski, SLH Transport Inc.; Martin Loeppky, Reimer Express Lines Ltd.; Cliff Busler, Jay’s Group of Companies.
SINGLE TANDEM: Jeff Walter, PE Ben Transport; Harvey Gording, Reimer Express Lines Ltd.; Chris Reimer, Weyerhaesur Forestlands.
TANDEM TANDEM: Dave McEwen, Kindersley Transport Ltd.; Kevin Mourre, Jay’s Group of Companies; Brent Krochak, Jay’s Group of Companies.
TRAIN: Gord Procyk, Jay’s Group of Companies; Marlen Peterson, Cameco Corporation; Gerald Laplante, Weyerhauser Forestlands.
The Rookie of the year was Martin Loeppky of Reimer Express Lines Ltd.
