MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Organizers are calling Schenker of Canada’s second annual Cross-Canada Food Drive Challenge a great success, with more than 61,000 lbs. of food collected.

DB Schenker’s 40 Canadian locations took part in the drive, held June 2-16. The donations have been delivered to food banks across the country.

“Our second annual food drive proved that Canadians are always ready to help those in need – regardless of their own financial circumstances,” said Claude Germain, executive vice-president and chief operating officer at Schenker of Canada. “DB Schenker’s employees, customers and partners have come through once again and I’d like to thank everyone who participated.

“In particular, I would like to thank our customers Unilever, Mars, Jones Transport and Royal Doulton for their generous contributions. In addition, special thanks to Flash Freight Systems for offering their support to our 2009 Food Drive by graciously donating the temperature-controlled transport of food donations from pick up stations to the Daily Bread Food Bank.”
