Schneider Raises Van Truckload Driver Pay

GREEN BAY, WI — Truckload, intermodal and logistics provider Schneider upped pay for van truckload drivers, by eight to 13 percent more per mile and drivers also have the opportunity to earn bonus pay, the company announced.

“Our business is growing, creating tremendous opportunities for both solo and team drivers,” said Dave Geyer, senior VP of the truckload division at Schneider. “Strong customer demand is providing record miles for drivers to maximize their available hours.”

The pay raise for the van truckload division comes on the heels of recent increases to Schneider’s tanker drivers and account-by-account increases for most dedicated account drivers. Drivers in select divisions and areas may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $7,500 and tuition reimbursement of up to $6,000.

While company drivers are receiving mileage rate increases, owner-operators’ revenue are also growing as freight rates increase. Solo and team owner-operators in Schneider’s Percent of Revenue Lease contract select their own loads and are compensated 65 percent of load revenue plus 100 percent of fuel surcharge and billed accessorial charges.

Other fleets which have increased driver pay in recent months are U.S. Xpress, Con-Way and a TransForce-owned carrier, Transport America.
