NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. — People say that the fabled American Kennedy family–veiled by catastrophe and wrapped in mystery–is cursed.

And last week, on Friday 13th no less, the Kennedy Curse struck again; but this time, it bled into the trucking industry.
And as a result, both a Kennedy and a trucker are facing serious charges.

A quick look at the Kennedys’ ill-fated family tree should be proof enough that anything Kennedy might seriously be considered as, well, hazardous material.

First, Joe Kennedy Jr. died when his bomber aircraft exploded. John F. Kennedy’s sister, Kathleen Cavendish, died in a plane crash. JFK himself was assassinated, but not before getting involved with Marilyn Monroe, whose life was also troubled, dramatic, and tragic. JFK’s younger brother, Robert Kennedy was assassinated. JFK’s son crashed his plane in the ocean and died. Mary Kennedy, estranged wife of Robert Kennedy Jr. was found after reportedly hanging herself. And who can forget Ted Kennedy’s tragedy? The American senator was out driving with a young single woman named Mary Jo Kopechne and the car they were in ended up in a river and Kopechne died.

It gets worse.

Before he was shot, Robert Kennedy fathered 11 children. David, the fourth, died in a Florida hotel due to a drug overdose. Michael, the sixth child, died in a skiing accident.

And just last week, Robert Kennedy’s seventh child, Kerry Kennedy, crashed into the headlines by driving her Lexus into truck driver Rocco Scuiletti’s 2011 International.

According to police, witnesses reported seeing a white Lexus being driven erratically on I-689 before it crashed into a tractor trailer. Then, according to the cops, both the Lexus and the truck drivers left the scene.

Scuiletti was caught and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Police later found Kennedy slumped over the wheel of her car on Route 22.

According to local newspaper accounts, after failing multiple sobriety tests, Kennedy was charged with impaired driving. She pleaded not guilty, saying that doctors believe the accident was caused by a seizure. But Kennedy, the ex-wife of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was not charged with leaving the scene.

Police refuse to comment whether either driver may face additional charges.
