ENTERPRISE, Ont. — Shell Canada says Vern Detlor turned one million miles in August to become the 25th member of Shell Team Rotella T’s Million Mile “Haul of Fame.”

Detlor, of Enterprise, Ont., received the Shell Rotella T Million Mile award for achieving 1,100,000 miles in his ’96 Freightliner with Caterpillar 3406E power and a Fuller 15-speed transmission.

The Rotella T Million Mile award was presented at a recent Show and Shine at the Hwy. 401 10 Acre Truck Stop in Belleville. The stop’s manager, Pam McPherson, friends from the trucking community, as well as four generations of Detlors, were on hand for the presentation from Shell representative, John Birchall.

“Rotella T has been an excellent oil for me,” Detlor says. “I recently went in for a valve adjustment and the guys at Caterpillar in Ottawa were surprised by the mileage on my truck because there’s very little soot and minimal wear.”

Detlor hauls for SLH Trucking out of its Kingston terminal, making the run from there to Houston, Tex., each week. He says he is committed to using only Shell Rotella T and looks forward to turning two million miles with his truck to set a new Rotella T record.

“Rotella T is a good reliable oil. I’ve never used anything else, and never would use anything else, even in my pick-up truck,” he says. To qualify as a “Genuine Million Miler,” Shell Team Rotella T requires truck owners to use only Rotella T (after the initial factory oil fill) for one million miles without an engine overhaul. Maintenance records must be kept and are inspected.

Shell and Truck News congratulate Detlor and his wife Patti on their million-mile achievement.
