HOUSTON, Texas — Shell Lubricants has introduced a new Shell Rotella engine oil formulated specifically for natural gas-powered engines.

Shell Rotella T3 NG Energized Protection can be used with both compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines, according to the company. Shell says it contains a combination of high-performance additives to adapt and protect under a range of conditions found in CNG- and LNG-fueled engines.

“Shell Lubricants continues to take a leadership role to provide the necessary lubricants required today and in the future,” said Mark Reed, global brand manager, Shell Rotella. “The addition of Shell Rotella T3 NG oil to the portfolio of Shell Rotella Energized Protection heavy-duty engine oils provides additional strength to our product line-up, which includes conventional, synthetic blend and full synthetic diesel engine oils.”

Shell Rotella T3 NG SAE 15W-40 is designed for trucks that run on 100% CNG or LNG. Shell says the new formula helps provide: an optimized balance of detergents and dispersants to promote good piston and engine cleanliness and promote long engine operation; ignition system protection thanks to reduced levels of ash-containing additives; and demonstrated wear protection of liners, rings, bearings and valve train components. It is currently available in drums, totes and in bulk. For more info, visit www.rotella.com.
