Show Shell your chrome

LEXINGTON, Va. — If you’ve got a smokin’ truck and are hauling through tobacco country this weekend, stop off at the 28th annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs truck beauty competition.

The event kicks off today at the Lee Hi Travel Plaza in Lexington, Va. and runs to June 12.

Owner-operator truckers from across the U.S. and Canada will compete for cash and prizes valued at $25,000. In addition, 12 drivers will be selected to have their trucks featured in the 2011 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar.

Trucks are judged by industry professionals who work for major trucking publications and broadcast companies.

The rigs will be scored on exterior appearance, design, detail/finish, originality, and workmanship.

The truck beauty contest is free to all participants.

Attractions during the three-day contest include a drive-in movie showing of "Smokey and the Bandit;" a carnival; hot air balloon rides; and a parade.
