HALIFAX, N.S. — Service Nova Scotia and Municpal Relations is making special move permits available on-line as part of its vision of providing services people need when and where they want them.

The operator of a vehicle that exceeds the weight limits or dimensions set by regulation under the Motor Vehicle Act must obtain a special move permit before travelling in the province. Each permit allows a carrier to travel the prescribed route, within a specific time frame and may place some additional requirements on the carrier.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to reduce red tape by providing carriers or their agents with easy and efficient access to special move permits. In most cases, operators can obtain their permit on-line in a few minutes.
