REVELSTOKE, B.C. — Drivers are being urged to check out the weather reports if they’re driving through B.C., after a series of snowstorms have shut down various highways.

On Sunday an avalanche forced the closure of the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden. The Department of Transportation also issued a travel advisory for Hwy. 16 east and west of Prince George, due to blowing snow that hindered visibility.

Extreme driving conditions were reported elsewhere in the province as well prompting various law enforcement agencies to urge drivers to just stay home if possible. Other closures in the province have affected various stretches of the Trans-Canada Highway, the Coquihalla and other routes.

The snow is also being blamed for several major accidents in the province.
