STA hires new training manager

REGINA — The Saskatchewan Trucking Association has named Glen Morrison the new manager of Commercial Truck Services (CTS), responsible for all aspects of CTS training programs, as well as the division’s heavy equipment operator training program.

CTS is a division of the STA, and Morrison’s extensive business and transportation background are key attributes expected to strengthen the STA’s group of companies.

“Glen’s entrepreneurial spirit and knowledge of the transportation industry will greatly enhance the STA’s efforts in raising training and safety standards for large trucks and heavy equipment. His addition to our senior management team will result in a more process-oriented approach to training, customer relations, quality assurance and business development,” says Al Rosseker, executive director of the STA.

Morrison began with the STA in early 2006 and has handled various assignments including Class 1A and 3A driver instruction in classroom and in-cab; hours of service; professional driver improvement; load securement; air brake; transportation of dangerous goods; and long combination vehicles. He is also proficient in curriculum and teaching methodologies, scheduling, and coaching/mentoring.

Prior to joining the STA, Morrison achieved master driver status in the truck transport industry where he also had training responsibilities.

Morrison also spent time in the agricultural sector having owned ag-based businesses that contributed to his acumen in general business operations and logistics; budgets and finance; forecasting and planning; and sales and service.
