TCA honors Canuck fleets as best employers

OTTAWA, Ont. — A total of nine Canadian carriers were named the ‘best Fleets to Drive For’ by the Truckload Carriers Association and Toronto-based online training provider CarriersEdge.

Nearly half of the top 20 named companies were Canadian.

The survey identifies North American for-hire trucking companies that provide the best workplace experiences for company drivers and owner-operators.

The Canadian carriers on the list are (in alphabetical order):

Creekbank Transport, Mississauga, ON; Erb International, New Hamburg, ON; Kindersley Tansport, Saskatoon, SK; Laidlaw Carriers Van, Guelph, ON; Mackinnon Transport, Guelph, ON; Shulist Logistics, King City, ON; TransX Group, Winnipeg, MB; and Yanke Group, Saskatoon, SK.

To be considered, carriers must be nominated by their drivers. They evaluated on the range and depth of programs being offered, the overall effectiveness of those programs across key metrics, and the responses of surveyed drivers.

"The Canadian fleets making the list demonstrate that great workplaces come in all sizes," said Mark Murrell, president of CarriersEdge. "Whether they have 12 trucks or 1,200, these fleets are running outstanding programs for their drivers, and seeing obvious results as well."
