Teletrac enhances FleetDirector messaging program

GARDEN GROVE, Cal. — Teletrac has enhanced its wireless text messaging capabilities for its FleetDirector product.

The company says improvements streamline operations by allowing drivers to send instant free-form text messages from their message data terminals (MDTs) to the dispatcher or fleet manager. Previously, drivers could only select from pre-programmed messages.

The MDT is a dashboard-mounted display screen that allows the driver to communicate with the office. Now, with the latest enhancement, Teletrac says fleet managers and dispatchers can more quickly analyze a situation that’s occurring out in the field and then promptly answer a driver’s questions in a more thorough manner.

“The rate of data collection and processing continues to speed up, leaving companies that rely on manual operations behind,” said Tim Van Cleve, chief operating officer of Teletrac. “At Teletrac, we continually strive to give our customers the most advanced and cost-effective tools to differentiate themselves, whether increasing productivity, optimizing communications or providing better customer service. Our new enhanced messaging capability gives fleets the competitive edge they need, helping them process and utilize data faster than ever, and ultimately increase their operational efficiency.”
