ST. JOHN’S, Nfld. — The Ministry of Works, Services and Transportation announced a contract valued at $378,450 has been awarded to Glen Corporation Ltd to upgrade the Trans Labrador Highway in western Labrador.

Work will include placing crushed gravel along approximately 30 kilometres of the Trans Labrador Highway between Ashuanipi River and the Esker intersection.

“This government is striving to provide Labradorians with a safe, reliable and sustainable transportation network. The upgrading we have planned for this year will help us with that goal,” said Jim Walsh, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation.

Phase I of the Trans Labrador Highway is an integral part of Labrador’s transportation infrastructure and motorists can look forward to a smoother drive on this section of the highway once the work is completed.

Work on this project will begin in the next couple of weeks and is scheduled to be finished by mid-October.
