INDIANAPOLIS, (Nov. 2, 2004) — North American carrier Celadon Group said its board of directors has appointed Thomas Glaser to president, a position previously held by chairman and CEO Steve Russell.

Glaser joined Celadon in May 2001 as its executive VP of operations and was promoted to the position of chief operating officer in November 2003. Glaser headed Celadon’s sales and operations functions. Glaser has B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Michigan.

The Indianapolis-based company is considered one of the largest transporters of truckload freight throughout the Canada-Mexico lane. In 1998 Celadon acquired Gerth Transport in Kitchener, Ont. to give the company a stronger Canadian presence. It later changed the name to Celadon Canada in order to present “one face and one brand to customers.”
