Thermo King
Thermo King now offers its innovative cryogenics technology for straight trucks.

With units for trailers and trucks, Thermo King’s cryogenics transport refrigeration systems use liquid carbon dioxide, eliminating the need for ozone-depleting commercial refrigerants.

Two new units for trucks, the ST -CR 300 and a CO2 hybrid unit, enable distributors with multiple stops to increase cooling capacity. In addition to rapid pull-down, the systems contain fewer moving parts than conventional equipment, resulting in reduced noise levels and lower maintenance requirements.

The ST -CR 300 runs completely on the cryogenic system, using liquid carbon dioxide as a substitute for diesel fuel. The company says the unit effectively stores cooling capacity in the form of liquid carbon dioxide in a vacuum insulated tank, making increased cooling capacity instantly available.

The cryogenics hybrid option helps improve the performance of Thermo King’s MD, KD, RD, TD and TS truck refrigeration units. As heat exchange takes place in a second coil placed within the evaporator section of an existing unit, the hybrid system rapidly pulls down the temperature after door openings, assisting the diesel unit while in high speed cool.
