Trucking HR Canada (THRC) announced it has secured additional investment in the Student Work Placement Program, increasing opportunities for post-secondary students to gain paid work experience in Canada’s trucking and logistics sector.

The investment will double the number of wage incentives available to employers, allowing fleets and industry companies to access emerging talent. This is according to Angela Splinter, THRC’s CEO, who made an announcement during the organization’s annual Women with Drive leadership summit in Toronto on March 5. Close to 700 more young people will now be exposed to careers in the industry, she said.

“This expanded investment reflects the growing recognition of our sector’s importance and the need to develop the next generation of skilled professionals who will keep Canada moving,” Splinter added in a related news release. “By expanding this program, we are helping employers strengthen their talent pipeline while ensuring students gain meaningful experience in a sector that plays such a vital role in Canada’s economy.”

Placements are available across a range of roles in the trucking and logistics sector, including human resources, workforce planning, operations and logistics coordination, safety and compliance, information technology and data analytics, and finance, administration and marketing.
