WINNIPEG, Man. — The fundraising efforts of three teams from the trucking industry who will walk 20 km to raise money for CancerCare Manitoba are now entering the home stretch.

The CancerCare Manitoba Challenge for Life 20K walk takes place June 12. Money raised will stay in the community and be used to fund cancer care research.

Bison Transport’s Blazing Bison team, including our own associate publisher Kathy Penner, leads the way with nearly $80,000 in pledges received so far. Penner, as well as Bison’s Itamar Levine and Peter Jessiman, are among the top fundraisers with Levine raising nearly $10,000, Jessiman $8,090 and Penner hot on their heels at just under $8,000.

Defending champs, the Maxim Great Dames and Dudes, representing Maxim Truck and Trailer, have raised $21,908 to date.

Beaver Truck Centre is also involved, having entered a team called Eager Beavers.
