TIPS offering fuel savings courses

ELORA, Ont. — The Transportation Information Programs and Services (TIPS) has some very timely strategies to offer relief from high fuel costs.

For the first time in recent history, says TIPS, the exorbitant cost of diesel fuel has, in many cases, become the primary operating cost for trucking companies, surpassing the driver’s wages.

Fuel surcharges are sometimes levied but often aren’t paid by the shipper, so when high fuel costs are added in with low rates, the results can be devastating, says TIPS.

"We can’t do much about the low rates, but we can train drivers and owner/operators on ways to significantly reduce their fuel consumption, and ultimately their expenditures," says TIPS trainer, Andy Morrison.

TIPS will be offering fuel savings courses and trip inspection modules several times this spring. Both programs offer professional drivers ways to increase their bottom line. For more information, call TIPS at 519-846-8056 or 800-710-9058 or visit www.tipsltd.ca.
