TMC 2005 meeting features array of technical programs
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (July 8, 2005) — The Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations is preparing for the TMC 2005 Fall Meeting, to be held Sept. 18 -22 at the Valley Forge Convention Plaza, Valley Forge, Pa.
The conference — themed as “Winning Diagnostic Strategies . . . A Matter Of Asking The Right Questions” — will also include the inaugural National Technician Skills Competition, TMCSuperTech-2005, Sept. 18-20.
Full technical sessions will include: “The New Language of Problem Solving for Today’s Technology Environment;” “Post-October 2002 Diesels: A 300,000-Mile Assessment;” and “Communication Failure Analysis.”
Mini-technical sessions for equipment and maintenance professionals will include:
A Fresh Look at Heavy-Duty Starting/Charging Diagnostic Procedures; Answers to Commonly Asked Questions Concerning Tire and Wheel Maintenance; Diesel Fuel’s Changing Face: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly; Guidelines for Analyzing Heat-Related Underhood Component Failures; Finance and Maintenance Perspectives on Cost-Per-Mile Standardization; Failure Analysis Guidelines for Manual, Automated and Automatic Transmissions; Trailer Tracking: Installation and Maintenance Issues; Telematics in Heavy Trucks: The Latest Technologies and Applications; The Changing Face of Occupant Restraint for Walk-In Vans; and Procedures for Mounting Bodies of Secondary Equipment to OEM Chassis.
Task Force meetings for the equipment track will be held on Monday, Sept. 19, with the exception of the Professional Technician Development Committee’s Task Forces, which will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
For the first time, TMC will offer information and technology professionals separate tracks for telematics and information technology issues. The IT/Logistics meeting will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 19-20.
TechFest2005, a special tabletop display of IT/logistics-related technology, will be held Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon.
Jeff Bannister, director of truck electronics and telematics guru for International Truck and Engine Corporation, will share his vision of telematics as the featured speaker for the TMC Industry Awards Luncheon.
TMC 2005 Fall Meeting registration on or before Aug. 30 is $295 for members; $395 for nonmembers. After Aug. 30, registration is $395 for members and $495 for nonmembers. A spouse program is available for $150.
