T.O. Arrow salesman scores top award again

TORONTO — Vikas Gupta is to truck selling what the Maple Leafs were to hockey in the ’60s.

One big difference? Gupta shows every sign of lengthening his dynasty.

For the sixth time in the last seven years, Gupta has earned the distinction of top sales representative for Arrow Truck Sales.

Gupta, who’s based in Toronto, was once again the top iron mover in 2010 out of all Arrow sales reps in the US and Canada.

"It’s truly an honor for any of our sales representatives to earn this award, but to achieve this level of success on such a consistent basis is even that much more impressive," said Frank Oliveira, formerly Vice President of Arrow Canada and now VP with Volvo Trucks North America (Arrow’s parent company).

Now in his seventh year with Arrow, Gupta has repeatedly earned some of the company’s highest honors including the Diamond Level sales award and exclusive President’s Club member.

But perhaps most impressive is that about 80 percent of his truck sales come from repeat customers or customer referrals, Oliveira notes.

Gupta says his secret to success is pretty simple. "I thoroughly understand my customers’ requirements and buying criteria.

"After all, I’m only successful if my customers are successful too. It should be a win-win relationship."

Says Adam Davy, Arrow’s Toronto Branch Manager. "(Gupta’s) strong work ethic, complete dedication to our industry and customers, as well as his desire to improve and learn something new everyday is truly inspiring."
