CYPRESS, Cal. — Three of Toyo Tire’s commercial tires have been certified by the US EPA SmartWay program.

The M137 steer tire, M127 free-rolling tire for trailer axles and the M657 drive tire (soon to be released) have all been approved by the SmartWay program, Toyo has announced.

The M137 and M657 are intended for long-haul, highway applications and use Toyo’s e-balance technology that features a stiffer belt package, stiffer bead construction and optimization through simulation technology, according to the company. It says the tires get longer life, improved endurance and improved regular wear resistance in addition to saving fuel.

“We are very pleased to have three of our premium products named to the EPA’s SmartWay program for low-rolling resistant tires,” said Ron Gilbert, director of commercial products, Toyo Tire. “Toyo Tires has always been known for offering high quality, technologically advanced medium truck tires. These tires, along with our e-balance technology, demonstrate Toyo Tires’ ongoing commitment both to the commercial trucking industry and to the environment.”
