TORONTO, Ont. — A theft fueled by rising gas prices, was thwarted in just three hours with the help of the stolen fuel tanker’s GPS unit.

After stepping inside a fuel depot to get the required paperwork, the truck driver returned to find the newly filled, 58,000-litre tanker had disappeared. With the GPS unit in the cab, OPP officers were able to close in on the truck when it came to a stop.

Two men were arrested on the premises of an independent gas station in Midland, while unloading the contents of the tanker. The gas was pumped back into the tanker and returned to the company.
