Traffic “nightmare” season begins in Quebec

MONTREAL — Quebec truckers lost as much as $275 million last year because of delays caused by notorious provincial road construction — and this year could be worse, says to the Quebec Trucking Association.

According to local media, some truckers are talking about extra delivery charges to navigate the increasing construction related congestion around Montreal this summer.

Jean-Robert Lessard of Transport Robert told local news stations that traffic has been "a real nightmare" already. He says all the added costs of scheduling, detours, fuel, salaries and impact on equipment will hit truckers in the pocket — at least those that can’t pass on the costs.
