COLUMBUS, Ind. — November marked the strongest month for new trailer net orders since March 2006, setting the stage for a strong start to 2012, according to the latest data from ACT Research.

Commercial trailer net orders came in at 28,393 units in November, according to the latest State of the Industry: US Trailers report, published by ACT.

“November’s numbers confirmed that recent strong quotation activity at the OEMs was real,” said Frank Maly, director CV transportation analysis and research with ACT. “The backlog-build ratio jumped to 5.5 months at the end of November, an advance far above expectations. The trailer industry is poised to end 2011 on a firm note, which means a strong start to 2012.”
