MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Trimac Transportation has decided on Cancom Tracking’s OmniTRACS Real-Time Satellite Fleet Management System and WebTech’s Quadrant Transportation Solution to meet its vehicle tracking needs.

Cancom and WebTech worked together to develop a hybrid business tool for Trimac, combining satellite and cellular data communications. Trimac was already a Cancom customer, and will now be able to further enhance its fleet management efficiencies through automated Hours-of-Service, driver and vehicle performance, vehicle tracking and two-way communications, the company announced.

Among the features is a driver performance tool which reports on the driving habits of the vehicle’s operator.

“The selection by Trimac for wireless fleet management solutions for the bulk hauling transportation market follows on the heels of our recent announcement of service offerings designed to address the specific needs of the trucking industry” said Neil Chan, senior vice-president of business development with WebTech.

Mike Ham, vice-president of Cancom added “Cancom’s relationship with Trimac across Canada and the U.S. has extended for over a decade and we are thrilled to be establishing this partnership that will support a fully integrated fleet solution. This will provide Trimac with a range of services designed to eliminate manual processing of paperwork both from a driver and office administration perspective while enhancing company bottom line results. A key component will be the back-end integration with dispatching and planning applications wirelessly connecting with dispatch over satellite or cellular for real-time communication requirements.”
