U.S. senator launches website to report unlawful fleets

U.S. Sen. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) launched the TruckSafe Tipline to make it easier to report unsafe motor carriers.

The TruckSafe Tipline is to report fleets suspected of employing or contracting with drivers who are not legally in the United States, who are not authorized to drive a truck, or who cannot meet required English-language safety standards.

Reports submitted to the TruckSafe Tipline will be reviewed and shared with the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Banks made the announcement a week after a fatal accident in Indiana that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said involved a truck driver in the U.S. illegally, but issued a commercial driver’s license by Pennsylvania.
